It's HUGE! And walking in is just... wow... it still has a great fish and meat section as well as exotic cheezes. I picked up another lovely blue cheese and a baked brie. It's brie cheese wrapped in a pastry which you literally bake in the oven and then slice and enjoy. Oh man I can't wait to try that baby out... :-9
Some of the new sections (or at least greatly expanded in my view) is the new pastry section. It's HUGE! It has some great pastries, chocolates and deserts. I cannot believe I spent $12 on two bars of imported chocolate. X-9 I got a Red Fire Bar that blends Mexican ancho chipolite chilies and dark chocolate (55% cacao) and wait for it... Mo's Bacon Bar! That's right, applewood smoked bacon, alder wood smoked salt and dark milk chocolate (41% cacao). Oh yes, two of the finest things in food, chocolate and bacon. X-D I'm sure it will be GLORIOUS! But I'm too full from dinner.
Speaking of which, dinner consisted of...
Mapo Tofu, Ahi Tuna Sashimi and Rice.
If you haven't heard of Mapo Tofu before, check out the wiki page on it: Mapo Doufu. It's funny where the name of this dish came from. :) So if you ever see "pot marked old woman tofu" on a Chinese menu in the future, you'll know it's this dish. ;-)
Sadly I cheated and made it using a sauce packet and I used mushrooms instead of ground beef. I'm trying to be good...
(Ignore the fact that I bought 1lb of sirloin and 1lb chuck to make meat loaf later)
The Ahi Tuna is just... delicious. I swear, every time I go to Whole Foods I get 1/2lb of the stuff.
The plate of Wasabi I make from a jar consisting of 45% real wasabi and horse radish. This stuff tastes more like the real wasabi root with still a hint of heat from the horse radish. I'm still trying to find a place that actually sells real wasabi root so I can taste the real thing for once. But this will do. :-9
Ugh... so... full...
So the funny thing is, shopping there really makes me want to cook more, even though I get discounted food at work...
Anyway, the menu for the rest of the week.
- Mapo Tofu and Tuna Sashimi - Made extra for lunch tomorrow.
- Meat Loaf
- Carmalized Figs - Need to go to the hardware store and buy a blow torch and the corresponding fire extinguisher
- Finish off the left over vegetable curry
- Beef Jerky - Which I haven't made in a long time.
- Macadamia nut brittle - If I can find a nice sturdy stock pot to buy
- Chocolate Bacon Ice Cream - Using that Mo's Bacon Bar -- Oh yes baby! X-)
Man I love Whole Foods. X-)
Huh, I don't have to fit into any form fitting costumes for the next few months right...? <checks> AWESOME! :D
