So bare with me as I blubber and go crazy ok? :D
Friday: Teen Titans GO!
So what's amazing was that we left the Fremont area and made it all the way to San Diego in about 7 hours. 8-O
Well we did leave at around 11pm and arrive at 6pm. 8-/ Yah, there wasn't a hell of a lot of traffic during that hour, which was to our advantage I guess. But damn, we were tired when we got there. :)
So anyway, our first big day at Comic Con. Of course, you've got to be in costume so I went ahead and wore Beast Boy from Teen Titans. The scary thing was, that I was in the costume the whole day! <gasp>
One costume a day at a convention? What a concept! :)
I wanted to go to Marv Wolfman's (The creator of the original Teen Titans comics) but his panel was actually full to capacity!
So basically I bummed around the huge exhibit hall for a while. Got to see so many people there! X-D It's great that a lot of the people I see at anime cons go to Comic Con as well.
The funny thing about wearing Teen Titans costumes is that we're always such a big attraction for the little kids that attend! I swear, I got asked to take a ton of pictures with little kids.
It's great! But I feel like I'm working at Disneyland or something. LOL!
Oh yah, and when ajmeow was wearing Starfire the day before, she actually met up with one of the executives for the show! He wanted to meet all of us at the WB/Teen Titans panel.
Teen Titans Panel
So we all went in costume and it was fantastic! We got to pose with a lot of the producers, editors, character designers and everything! I even got a picture with Greg Cipes, the voice of Beast Boy!
The panel for the show went really well! We got to see some upcoming footage of the new season and found out a bit more about all the great people working to make the show possible.
Of course, as I'm writing this, I find out that there was a meet the guests and signing at the Bandai booth! X-| No one said that! :P
Here's a link to the info and a picture with me and Greg Cipes!
So as we were all mulling around the panel afterwords, we got to talking to a lot of the people working for the show. They were just hanging around too. It was really cool talking to them actually. They wanted our pictures and stuff too!
A couple of them actually told us that they have the picture of us with Marv Wolfman from LosCon hanging at their offices. *_* OMG!
That's just... so cool!
And if that wasn't enough, they actually offered to give us a tour of the studio if we were ever in Burbank. 8-O Oh man I really want to be able to take them up on that offer!
Anyway, yah, what an AMAZING first day at Comic Con. Can you see why I love this con so much! X-D
Saturday: Could you spread your legs a little more?
Hmm, I guess I should explain that quote first huh? X-)
Anyway, as I was helping out the HCC into their Easterling costumes. One of the things I had to do was help trionfale into her leg plates. Well I couldn't reach the strap so I asked her to spread her legs apart so I could... yah... well either way, it sounded *really* wrong. X-D
Oh there were a lot of very wrong things that were said in that dressing room, so let me go on to some more clean convention fun instead. ;-)
Anyway, I knew I was going to be running around to panels all day so I decided to go with a simple costume. Neo from the Matrix Reloaded. And boy was I right!
So many good panels!
The first one I went too was the Smallville panel. They had the co-creators, Alfred Gough, Miles Miller and producer Joseph Loeb at the panel.
For the actors, John Glover (Lionel Luthor) was the only one there at first which was cool enough in itself! But later on Allison Mack (Chloe Sullivan) and the latest addition to the cast, Erica Durance as Lois Lane! 8-O
Ok, I have to admit, I missed the last few episodes of Smallville and am patiently awaiting them on rerun, but... when the hell were they going to introduce Lois Lane! *_*
But yah, it was still cool to hear what they are planning for the new season and to see the actors up close and personal!
Ok, can I just say that Farscape is THE BEST SCI-FI SHOW EVER!
Oh my god, I love Farscape so much and I was so very pissed that they canceled that show!
This was why I was so glad to hear that they are bringing it back as a mini series on Sci-Fi and I got to see the actors! X-D
David Kemper (Exec. Producer), Rockne O'Bannon (Show Creator) and Brian Henson, Producer and head of the Jim Henson Creature Shop which makes all of those amazing alien looking aliens on the show!
And of course the actors from the show Ben Browder (John Crichton) and Claudia Black (Aeryn Sun)!!!!! X-D X-D X-D
That's just *SO* freakin' cool! I can't even tell you. Oh I can go on and on and on about that, but that would full up all servers on LJ. :)
But yah, they were mostly talking about the new miniseries. It's basically a condensed version of what the sixth season would have been had it not been canceled. They even showed a trailer for the miniseries that I don't think anyone else has seen yet! And I can tell you, it looks GOOD with a capital G! X-D
I so can not wait for that to come back! Yay for Farscape!
Another fantastic thing about Comic Con is the variety of costumes you see at the Masquerade. I dunno, maybe it's because I go to so many Anime conventions, but the costumes at Comic Con is always just so... amazing and refreshing.
Working backstage and helping out everyone in the HCC was just a total treat. Ok, maybe not *all* of the prep work, but hanging out back stage with all of the costumers was really cool!
After getting up the nerve to actually go up and talk to a few of them that is. :)
Anyway, just some AMAZING stuff this year. From the Optimus Prime from the Transformers, some great original costumes, the excellently choreographed lightsaber fight to Bender from Futurama and R2D2 sharing the stage, it was just an excellent, excellent show!
Oh did I mention the kick ass Easterlings of the HCC? No? Well they were kick ass! :)
Maybe it was because I've been around them this whole time as they were making all of the plates and watching them put together the costume. I have to say, it was all sort of "blah" for a while.
But when I saw them together. When all of the costumes were DONE and on these 5 fantastic friends, it was a totally different experience. And when they went on stage to perform, I'll take a phrase from Tristen, but OH EM GEE! 8-O
They were just KICK ASS (yes I'm saying it again). It looked like they walked right off the movie screen and wowed the audience.
And I'm glad the audience and the judges agreed because they won a well deserved Best Recreation award! X-D
Sunday: The legs of a dancer...
Ahh the last day of the convention. I wasn't able to go into to the exhibit hall so I was able to walk around as a mundane a bit before the Firefly/Serenity panel.
First of all, if you've never seen Firefly before, stop reading this thing RIGHT NOW and go to your local video store and buy the DVD set. It's only like $50 but you will so not regret it.
It is one of the best sci-fi shows next to Farscape. It's written and directed by Joss Whedon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer/Angel).
That being said, FOX prematurely canceled the show. But the good news! And the reason why there this was called the Serenity Panel is that it's being turned into a theatrical movie! X-D
So not only did Joss show a new trailer for the new movie, BUT BROUGHT THE ENTIRE CAST OF FIREFLY! X-D X-D X-D
Oh my god... I can die a happy geek now. That was JUST SO DAMNED COOL! X-D
Oh to explain the dancer thing. One of the questions Joss asked the actors was what they liked about the characters they played.
When they got to Nathan Fillion (Mal) he answered something like this:
"No matter what happens, no matter what the calamity or how dire the situation. You'll always be able to see that Mal has the legs of a dancer."
He said that with a completely straight face. He had the audience cracking up and even his co-stars were looking at him like he was crazy! LOL!
But alas, as with Comic Con every year, you always find out you missed some great signing, panel or guest. :(
People, especially people. I swear Comic Con will just eat people you want to see but that's just the way it is.
I've already pre-registered for next year. :)
