Since I do, I've been lazy and really haven't been using a SPAM filter. This was painfully apparent after this weekend when I was away attending BayCon and Fanime.
At one point I had over 200 emails. :P Most of which was spam. So I saw this article on Slashdot about DSPAM, a statistical hybrid spam filter.
The first thing I did after the cons were over was go and install it, and wow... what a difference.
You do have to train it, feeding it SPAM and making sure it doesn't mark real email as SPAM, but just after one day of training, it's pretty accurate.
The site claims 99.95% accuracy (1 error in 2000) after a reasonable amount of training. That's ten times more accurate than a human being. 8-O Now that's your computer working for you.
At this rate using both DSPAM and the SpamHaus blacklist, I maybe SPAM free in about a week or so. I'll let you know in a week. :)
